Separating your emotions from your success

A wise person once told me that you cannot be a successful person if you’re always emotional. Now that I’ve been an entrepreneur for several years now, I know this to be true.

Women are often described as emotional beings. And, yes, God did bless us to be more in tuned with our emotions than men. But our emotions were not given to us to be the sole guide to our decisions.

You’re emotions are always changing. And your emotions are based on how you feel at any given moment. And, unless you have gotten to a point where you have learned to direct your feelings,  your feelings are usually based on external circumstances.

To be successful, you have to detach your emotions from your business, purpose, or whatever it is you are pursuing. To be successful in your business or profession, your decision must be based on facts and your intuition. Your intuition is often described as a “feeling.” But, it is your spiritual guidance system. Not a feeling, not an emotion.

For example, when you experience a setback, it is easy to get caught up in the emotions of feeling sad, let down, or disappointed. When you allow yourself to stay in this place, you will get stuck and may even give up.

But, when you are able to acknowledge your feelings, then move from your feelings into facts, you are able to analyze the situation, look at the data, and make adjustments to get back on track of your goals.

The same is true when it comes to how you feel about your product and/or services. When you are a business owner, you are proud of the products and services that you offer. And you think that everyone want and need what you have to offer. So you make an offer, sit back, and watch the customers come knocking down your door . . . except they don’t. No matter how great you may FEEL your products and services are, you still have to have a business strategy and a marketing strategy and an ideal client profile to get your products and services.

So, remember, your success is not tied to your feelings. Your success is tied to facts, your spiritual intuition, and your strategy.
