Give Yourself a Break

It’s March already and Spring Break is Here!

When you think about taking a break, you think about taking a vacation, right?

Let me ask you this question . . . on a day to day basis, how often do you give yourself a break to allow your mind, body, and spirit to replenish after pouring out yourself into everyone else?

If you’re the typical American, the answer is probably that you don’t.

As a woman, we wear so many hats all at one time. We are wives, mothers, co-workers, doctors, lawyers, taxi driver, chefs, maid, etc . . . women in this day and age have so many responsibilities. Even if you’re “just” a housewife (we all know that being a  housewife is a 24 hour job), you still have a lot of responsibility on your plate.

With all of that said, it is imperative that we take time to pour back into ourselves so that we may continue to give and serve others.

This is a hard lesson that I had to learn recently. I learned that I have to take breaks on a regular basis. I have to take the time . . .well . . . . really . . . MAKE the time to pour back into myself. I have to make room for the Holy Spirit to minister to me and pour into me. I am human. I have limits. And so do you.

One of the main reasons that we do not take breaks is because we have this false belief that everyone needs us and that the world will fall apart without us. But here is the truth . . . you are not God. For all the people that you think need you, remember the ultimate and unlimited Source that will provide all of their needs is God. Not you.

Instead of being an ever present help to everyone, point them in the direction of the true ever-present help. Only when you allow yourself to be rejuvenated, will you experience the release of a burden you’ve been carrying for so long, and you’ll see how to move in your ministry, your gifts, and your passion effortlessly.
