The Best You Ever Had

Thinking of your romantic relationships or your other personal relationships, are they the best you ever had? Probably not. You can probably think of several reasons you would like to see your relationship change and become the best. However, only you have the power to create the best relationships.

How do you do it? How do you create the best relationships you’ve ever had?

  1. Have the best relationship with yourself. I bet you weren’t expecting that. But it’s true. In order to have the best relationship with someone else, you have to have the best relationship with YOU. That means that you must get to know you and take care of every aspect of yourself – mental, physical, and spiritual. When you neglect yourself, you don’t have enough energy and focus to put into a relationship with anyone else, no matter if it is your husband, brother, sister, or children.
  2. Time. All relationships require quality time. When you think about your relationship with God, how do you continue and nurture that relationship? You spend time with him. You talk to Him. You listen to Him. The same works for our personal relationships. Spend time with the ones you love. I’m talking about Quality time. Quality time with someone is not just sitting in the same space and never connecting. Connect with your husband. Connect with your children. Notice what they are wearing. Notice what kind of mood he is in. Show interest in who they are. Be intentional about being fully present.
  3. Communication. We all know that communication is key to any relationship. But to have the best relationship you’ve ever had, you have to have intentional and effective communication. Effective communication encompasses how we send and receive information. Most women are excellent communicators. However, we need to practice communicating to our loved ones in the way they can best receive it. I’ve heard people say “I’m only responsible for what I say, not for how you receive it.” That’s not entirely true. If you don’t take the time to communicate on a level that is suitable for your audience, you can do more harm than good. If you don’t take the time to learn how best to communicate to your partner, you can and will destroy your relationship. And the best way to learn is simply through practice. Practice talking to your partner or your children. Notice their reactions and adjust accordingly. You can also purchase a book on communications from Amazon.

When you put these three principles into practice, you too, can have the best relationship you’ve ever had. The more you do it, the better you’ll get, and the more phenomenal your relationships will become.
