Give Yourself What You Need

I think we can all agree that Hustle culture is dead. Pushing ourself to exhaustion and burnout isn’t a good look on anyone.

And I was reminded of that this weekend.

The previous work week was definitely one for the books. If I had to use one word to describe my week, it would be: chaotic.

I had at least 5 personal goals/tasks that I wanted to accomplish during the week and I didn’t have the mental nor physical energy to even think about them. So, like every good over-achiever out there, I just told myself that I would work over the weekend to get it all done . . .

But when the weekend rolled around, all I really wanted to do was rest, meditate, ground myself, and replenish my spirit.

For a minute, I gave myself a hard time because there’s a lot that can be accomplished in 48 hours and resting didn’t seem like the most productive thing to do.

But it is.

Giving your mind, body, and spirit what it needs not only replenishes you, but it gives you what you need to be productive and efficient!

Have you ever tried to run on a treadmill on an empty stomach? Especially if you haven’t eaten in 18 hours . . . that treadmill suddenly feels like Mount Everest. You get tired 2 minutes in and you’re huffing and puffing for breath 5 minutes in.

Why?

Because you didn’t give your body what it needed to meet the challenge of the treadmill.

Life is the same way.

The key to goal achieving and creating success is not working harder and working longer. The key is to give your mind, body, and spirit what it needs in order to perform in it’s most energetic and efficient state.

What do you need today that will replenish and energize you for the rest of the week?
